It’s a problem facing many museums, libraries, archival centers, historical attractions these days. The optimal temperature and humidity for the people visiting these places do not necessarily coincide with the requirements of the attractions themselves. In the past, the solution has been to;

  1. Keep sensitive collections in a storage room where the climate can be controlled – away from the public eye

  2. Attempt to keep the display rooms themselves at optimal temperature and humidity for the collection without regard for human comfort or potential building damage.

As a possible solution to this problem we propose archival storage in boxed storage, enclosed display areas or cases called “microclimates” that can be controlled to the minutest detail using our MicroClimate Control System.

How it works

As the air enters the unit, the refrigerant system cools and dehumidifies the air.  The air is then reheated before leaving the unit.  In addition the system can come equipped with high efficiency HEPA and carbon filters to clean the air. Once the air is cleaned and treated it is re-humidified and heated in the air ducts to the desired temperature and humidity level for the display cases, if necessary.
